ఉత్తముని కడుపున నోగు జన్మించిన 
వాడె చెరచు వాని వంశమెల్ల 
చెఱకు వెన్నుపుట్టి చెరపదా తీపెల్ల 
విశ్వదాభిరామ వినురవేమ 

Meaning: A scum who took birth from a great person will destroy whole family reputation. Warms from the sugarcane destroys the sugariness of sugarcane.

My Take: Raising kids properly is very important. If we failed to do so, then our whole family reputation will be in stake.

I don't think there will be anyone who has studied Telugu during their schooling and don't remember the poem "Uppu Kappu Rambu Nokka Polikanundu...". This simple worded poem along with over hundred more are presented to Telugu language by Yogi Vemana. His poems with simple language with words used by common man made them reachable to everyone. While I enjoy reading these poems now, the reason I like poems of Vemana during schooling is different. The last line of all his poems is same, so there is one less line to remember during exams. ఉప్పు కప్పురంబు నొక్క పోలికనుండు చూడ చూడ రుచుల జాడవేరు  పురుషులందు పుణ్యపురుషులు వేరయా  విశ్వదాభిరామ వినురవేమ Meaning : Though both salt and camphor looks a like, they tastes quite differently. In the same way, though all men looks same. Good people among them are apart. My Take : This poem is mentioning the classic problem a human faces on day to day basis. That is how to identify good people among wicked. This is equally difficult always. This poem is also the most famous one by Vemana.  While there are many sweet poems in Telugu. This poem written by Alasani Peddana in "Pravaruni Swagatam" stands out. I read this in my 10th standard Telugu. But, after about 18years, I still can recite this poem.
